Wow, thanks. Started welding with the machine, sure is much smoother than what we have used in the past. Thanks to everyone.

I purchased it right, big attraction was the deutz diesel. It is a welding SOB! Might look at another generator. Thanks again. FMI, what would a ball park price be to put another generator in this thing to make it do what we want?

Have to change the $$$$ rotor for more power. Changing the rotor is quite the hassle, i might add....

Big Blue 400d generator upgrade?
Yep that's what I thought.
If the price was good on welder. There a super welder. Mine did hv the CV pkg which I wanted. It runs a wire feeder all day long with power to spare. I just bought a cheaper generator for power backup. But all things considered one unit may suit u better.
Good luck.

Big Blue 400d generator upgrade?
Good evening everyone. I am looking for info on a recently new to me welder/generator in the title.Serial # KF973187 was purchased to run our Ranch repairs and misc. generator work. My mistake was that this machine is a 3kw generator and we need more for emergency power. The manual downloaded says there is an optional auxiliary power plant for this machine that can power 12/10kw.Does anyone know what is involved in this upgrade and is it economically feasible? Thanks much.Tags: None
