  • Trailblazer 302 starting problem

My 2004 trailblazer 302 is acting up. The other day I went to start and turned the ignition and nothing. My buddy said it's probably low on oil and won't let you start. The battery is less than a year old and I use it almost everyday for my business. Any ideas before i take it somewhere???

As in.. it would not crank?? or what..??

Got a VOM? Start by checking for battery voltage at the battery and then at the ignition switch and then at the starter engage terminal in START etc.

Have you checked to make sure you battery connections are good? On both ends - at the battery and starter/ground?

Battery terminals are clean. Puts out 12.7voltsfrom battery and that's what it's getting at the starter but it's completely dead got cover off don't know how to check ignition.

Batt voltage seems low ... fully charged should be around 13.8 vdc

You Checked plug PLG5 and plug PLG8 connections..??.

Should I try charging the battery to see if that's the problem?

                        I would...

first disconnect the battery and trickle charge it overnight

would also clean the connections to the starter and switch...

                        don't forget the ground connection..
                        .

                          Trailblazer 302 starting problem

Had a similar problem on wife's jeep. Found poor connection on trigger wire at starter. Was loosing connection where eyelet was crimped on at solenoid terminal. If I would wiggle wire harness wile she held starter in it would start.
Crimped on new eyelet works fine.
                          Just another thought
