BUT... you will not have the 24vac to power a spoolgun or suitcase feeder...

of course you could always install a 24v transformer and retrofit a 14 pin connctor..
    Bump...

    I think Duane55 added a 14pin to a Bobcat a few years back...

Thank you, why do they make those adapter cables then? I suppose I could find a 5 pin foot control?

I have two MEP 802A's but they are set up for house stand by and barn stand by.

Would a diesel big 30 and a 5 to 14 pin adapter cable work?
It looks like it is missing the 24vac to power feeders etc

see page #11 in the manual

Do you have a serial number for that BIG 30..??

I'm also in it for the backup power aspect for the house. Here on the gulf coast, it's probably a good idea that my GenSet run the whole house. After hurricane Rita, we had 10 days of 100+ degree weather and no electricity. It was brutal. But amazingly enough, we somehow managed to get through it without George Bush being blamed for it or us raping or killing our neighbors.

I'm looking closely at a new TB or bobcat. I say new because I just don't know enough about the older machines to resurrect one and I certainly don't have the time...as much as I'd like to.

    We'll see.

Your HTP TIG will run off of an engine drive or genset....

and will give you the versatility and a quality of TIG weld that you could not get close to with an engine drive and HF box...
A good quality 6.5KW Genset will give you full capability...

Why not pick up a surplus MEP-XXX ....and run the welders you already have..??..

You could always paint it blue...

    +1...I agree wholeheartedly....

Have done both... and there is no comparison....

Any insight much appreciated.
