I am looking for a generator (gas or diesel) with a 14 pin remote. I know the high end newer diesel sets have them, but I am struggling to find a gas model that has it. I have an opportunity to buy a diesel set however in looking at pictures I do not see the 14 pin port. All this so I can run my HF-251D-1 Miller High Frequency ARC Starter with a foot control. Any insight much appreciated.

Have done both... and there is no comparison.....

You guys have successfully talked me out of my desire to get my grubby meat hooks on an engine drive with the intent to make it do everything. Although I still believe that for that much money, the dang thing should! But TIG welding aluminum has fallen off my list of requirements for such a machine. Not quite sure what to think of this now. Dang it.

and will give you the versatility and a quality of TIG weld that you could not get close to with an engine drive and HF box...
A good quality 6.5KW Genset will give you full capability...
Why not pick up a surplus MEP-XXX ....and run the welders you already have..??..
You could always paint it blue...Last edited by H80N; 08-31-2015, 07:56 PM..

I'm also in it for the backup power aspect for the house. Here on the gulf coast, it's probably a good idea that my GenSet run the whole house. After hurricane Rita, we had 10 days of 100+ degree weather and no electricity. It was brutal. But amazingly enough, we somehow managed to get through it without George Bush being blamed for it or us raping or killing our neighbors.
I'm looking closely at a new TB or bobcat. I say new because I just don't know enough about the older machines to resurrect one and I certainly don't have the time...as much as I'd like to.
We'll see.

Would a diesel big 30 and a 5 to 14 pin adapter cable work?

(RFCS-5 or RFCS-14 Pedals..)
BUT... you will not have the 24vac to power a spoolgun or suitcase feeder...
of course you could always install a 24v transformer and retrofit a 14 pin connctor..Last edited by H80N; 09-01-2015, 07:56 PM..

I think Duane55 added a 14pin to a Bobcat a few years back...Last edited by H80N; 09-05-2015, 05:46 PM..
