    Some Advise Please!.....Millermatic 211...Thanks

Hello, I'm new to this site and would appreciate any help you can give me on the following questions. I've been using the 211 for about 6 months or more now and have run into a couple problems:1) The M-100 mig gun the machine comes with is CONSTANTLY having feeding problems. Either with flux core or gas I am changing tips 0.035 at a rate of 2-3 an afternoon. If I don't than it won't feed smoothly or sometimes not at all causing the wire to back up in the machine. I have tried various tensions, sprays, and gels, but all the same?2) Is there a better gun than the M-100 it comes with I can replace (I'd prefer longer leads anyway)?3) I see there are a couple different tips that can be used depending on if I'm using gas or flux core could this help protect the tip and my feeding problems?4) I'm beginning to weld a lot more and I'm considering on upgrading to another machine that also does TIG mainly for aluminum and fine light gauge steel. Would the Mulitimatic 200 with the TIG kit be a good option. My concern with buying the aluminum spool gun for my 211 is that I heard it does not produce as nice of a result as a TIG machine?SORRY LAST ONE!5) I've been buying these cheap auto darkening helmets that quickly get scratched and/or burned than can't see well. Usually I can't find replacement lenses and if so its a pain to have to keep cleaning and changing them......is there a better option or advantage to buying a better helmet? Thanks I'd really appreciate your feed back as I've turned my machine off until I can get more into and on the above!..............bowfinger

    Re: 211...

I bought mine on the last day for the rebate/spool gun. Got the rebate check and am awaiting the spool gun. I also bought the cart.
I'm not a pro at MIG, but I think it works well...

    I feel your pain

Jc2094- I know exactly what you were going through. I was waiting for months to buy a new welder and thought that they might be upgrading the 211. I just got the older 211 the other day and haven't taken it out of the box yet. I have a few days left to send in the rebate form for the $ and spool gun. Now I am wondering if I saw that the inverter model 211 came out and I am wondering if I should return it and get the new one. I guess at the end of the day, you just need to go for it and live with the decision. Good luck in getting your new machine!

    inverters in the hot south

All you nee to do is put the welders wheels in a kids wading pool that's covered with an umbrella And pour mint juleps on the control board - everything will be OK.

I for one would go with the older transformer. I have one and have no doubt it will outlive my Dynasty and CST 280, I think the inverters lifetime is shorter, I keep mine in the house and the 211 in the garage. Living in the south I would imagine long term heat exposure will shorten their lives.
I now await the usual onslaught of those who believe they are wiser.

I bought the current model today, figured I was a fool not too. I bought $400 worth of gear so I'll get a $400 rebate and the spool gun.

As far as specs in the new 211, I know it will only weigh 38 lbs. Upgraded drive system, supposed to be more effecient.

    Too Late

Really wish the spoolgun offer was extended. Just unable to spring for new machine right now.

    Sorry to see it go...

Unless there is a shortage on available input power on your end, IMO you are CRAZY not to buy the current model especially with all of the rebates. I would be curious to hear someone from Miller compare the PROS/CONS of the previous unit and the new inverter!

You want a transformer machine or, presumably, a newer inverter unit? Your choice. IF you have a good use for the spool gun then that could direct your decision.
