I am new to welding, so I have been looking a numerous youtube videos, etc.
I found information that one could measure the inches/minute feed by timing for 6 seconds, measuring the wire output, adding a "0" and that would be the approximate IPM at the dial setting of the machine.
I have a Miller 211 AutoMig. Looking at the chart on the machine for 1/8" stock it indicates a setting of 65 feed and 4.5. I ran the wire for 6 seconds and came up with 350 IPM.
Now, the youtube charts indicate for 0.030 wire, 1/8" metal, the IPM should be about 240.
I also tried again using the Auto Set for 0.030 wire and 1/8" on the dial and again came up with about 350 IPM.
What am I doing wrong?
