case to the heat sink. Sometimes a mica insulator is used too in case the potential on the
semiconductor case would conflict with the potential of the heat sink.

Agree. A person who does not know what heat sink compound is may not know some other very important things one ought to know before disassembling expensive and potentially dangerous equipment. I would caution the OP to get some well-qualified assistance. Please be especially careful about potentially charged capacitors, ( sometimes bleeder resistors are not present, or have failed open), and use good ESD practices to avoid blowing up even more expensive parts. I've seen a couple of nasty results from people discharging capacitors through their very own bodies! Be careful!

Curiosity is one thing. Repair is another. Usually caused by the very high price demanded
for Miller repair. I encountered a person a few weeks ago who was trying to do a repair on
a dynasty because he was quoted over $1700 by Miller. He was going around trying to get
free advise on what could be wrong. If you have to ask what igbt stands for then you should
get professional assistance.
