Welding chrome

My neighbor asked if I can welding a chrome bumper for him......It is off an old 65 Volkswagon ............(its the upper part of front bumper approx 1 1/4 diameter) it was bent in an accident we got it straight but it has a few tears around where bolt goes through it ..........I have a Miller 211 auto and was thinking I could grind off chrome plate and use #30 wire to welded the tears.....Is that the correct thing to do

also, welcome to the forum, yep, burn away, the chrome will not give you any grief. if you are running an 03 wire, meaning 70-03, things may be more challenging, but you prolly are running 70-06, which has a higher count of silicone, used for shielding and cleaning, which will serve you better. just be careful not to get cut on that flaking chrome
