  • Dead Battery ?

    I bought a new battery last May ( 2014 ) for my Lincoln Ranger 8, Well now it's dead again.
    I noticed the Amp. meter doesn't seem to be showing it charging like normal.
    What would cause that to happen ?

    Dead cell in the battery probably, or perhaps not charging at all, when you put a real meter on the battery with the unit running, what do you get for voltage? Now the ranger 8 welder bats were not isolated from the generators, so not a good plan to boost it. It may also be that your not running the welder long enough to charge the battery. One of those reconditioning type chargers from Canadian tire seem to work well.

      Thanks Cruizer;
      I bought a new battery today.
      I talked to a friend , He mentioned the rectifier- regulator may be shot ?
      The alt- bat. gauge is not showing a lot of charging, a little below the mid-point on the gauge.
