  • Help My millermatic 251 stoped working

I dropped the mig gun and when I picked it up the wire was spooling after hitting the trigger a few times with no results I turned the machine off. after turning it back on I got dashes for voltage and 85 for wire speed and nothing worked. With the machine on I unplugged the mig cable and when I pluged it back in the wire started spooling again. I also touched the wire to the workpiece while the wire was spooling and nothing no spark. Any Ideas??Tom

Trigger wires in the gun have shorted to the current carrying conduit, so spooling and machine picks up the fault so no arc.

Moral to the story is that you need a new gun
