Millermatic 190 or 211?

Didn't notice that much noise from the fan but I'm using hammers, grinders, saws etc and Music all of which make noise so some fan noise wouldn't be noticed anyway

I always have some tunes playin so it doesn't bother me . I'm usually makin more noise then the machine. I think my grinder is louder then the fan.

I've sorta given up the idea on a multi-machine. Like I mentioned earlier, I can always fire up the Bobcat for SMAW jobs. I just hate having to wear earplugs to use it...which brings up another question about the 211. I've read that the cooling fans are waay noisy. Do you find them a problem?

It has been stated that some inverter machines, the smaller amps ones do not run 6010 well. I have and at work use the MILLER CST 280 and no issues at all. It depends on the user too.
You will be happy with the 211. I use the .030 wire in it as many members stated that is the machines favorite. I prefer the Lincoln L- 56 too, it is a 12 1/2 pound spool. Buy it before the rebate expires and get prices from local suppliers. Take CASH and do a package deal.

Sixteen pages of posts on the Lincoln 210PM and it looks like only a couple of guys have got them so far. It appears the machine will not run 6010 electrodes - something to do with the software that might be 'upgradeable'. One owner complained of the mig spool 'squirrel caging' when using a flux core wire the machine was not supposed to be capable of running. Not really sure what squirrel caging is but it doesn't sound good. But when he changed to the appropriately sized wire, the machine would put down a nice bead. The LCD screen is getting a lot of questions as to it's durability, plus there is concern about how reliable the electronics package is compared to tranformers used in older machines.

Advances in technology are always fraught with failure until the bugs get worked out and at some point, the 210PM may become the ideal 'hobbyist' welder. Miller is probably working on their own version right now but I think I'll stick the older technology Miller 211.

I had a Lincoln SP 135 plus and it was good machine but I wa able to try out the Passport Plus and I was sold on it right away. I've run a Lincoln 215 and it was good also.

Broccoli, do you have one of the Lincoln Powermig 210s? I wouldn't mind being able to stick weld without having to wear earplugs with my Bobcat, as well as the convenience of a MIG in the same package, all for under a grand.

I had not thought about a Lincoln product and the price is attractive. I've already got a 250 Bobcat for SMAW purposes but the multi-process features of the Lincoln are worth considering though I don't think I'll ever get into TIG.

I wish I could try the 190 as it is supposed to be inverter based similar to the Passport- which I absolutely love.
Not so much with the MM211.

As you mentioned: the price point is just too close between the MM211 and this new 190 for anyone trying to choose between the 2 right now without being able to test them out.

I suspect the MM211 is out of their line up so when those are all gone there will only be the 190.

Yes , this was just talked about as you stated. I have the 211 and would still choose it over the 190. The 190 is half the weight and a first generation machine. The 211 has a few more amps which may be handy and its is multi volt too.
All manufactures have to redesign machines just so we need to think about a replacement or upgrade. Best advice would be to try each one and see how it runs. Everybody has a different opinion . I like the auto set and usually run a little hot. Some hate auto set and prefer to fine tune adjustments to their particular project and play with it. In the real world the machine is sometimes hundreds of feet away and you need to set it a happy medium. If welding at a bench the machine can be right there and you can play with the dials all you want. MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!
Oh, ask for one for Christmas and see which one you get.

Hello and merry Christmas to all. I see this question has been asked and I suppose the 211 is the better machine over the 190 but I'd still like to hear some comments from 211 owners. It has good reviews on the web and does not cost that much more than the 190. Portability is not an issue, as well as power input requirements. I have an older Millermatic 130 that I bought new in the mid-90s. While it does a nice job on 1/8” mild steel or less, I’d really like to have one that can do a single pass on thicker material. Is there really a ‘hill of beans’ difference between the two?
