Wiring for 304 XMT

I just bought 304 XMT (230/460v) with feeder and now I need to install a dedicated wiring system for the machine, in garage. Can someone tell/show me what wiring system should look like? Or share a good wiring instruction on here?


The plan is to wire it myself and then have a certified electrician inspect it to make sure everything's safe. I'm taking my time to make sure I understand what I'm working with.

For phase 1 and phase 3, from what I understand, typical home use 1 phase, so I'm going with that.

don't look at #2 that is for 460v and you won't find that in yer geerage.

You may not need additional disconnect.

8/2 or 8/3 wire?

Need two hots and a ground. If you are making an extension cord use SO cable, if you are making a run through conduit use THHN, if it is all in a wall/attic you can use range cable.

8/2 or 8/3 wire?

When discussing WIRE- the run from the panel to the receptacle either in conduit or through the wall the Ground is not counted in the numbering.
8/2 is actually 3 wires
8/3 will be 4 wires.

You only need 8/2

CORD- all wires in the cord are counted
8/2 will only have 2 wires.
8/3 will have 3 wires.

Cord is used for power cords on machines and extension cords.
