  • Tig welding Grey Cast Iron

i have a old lathe that the cover is broke in a spot and it is grey cast iron. i am wondering what would be the best filler rod to Tig weld it back together.

There are lots of good TIG wire choices like Crown Alloys Royal 55/45-10 but you will need to buy a bunch of it for one repair. If its going to be painted just braze it. Just my thoughts...Bob

I agree braze it. Safest choice.
If u hv Ni-Rod stick, I've cleaned off to bare Rod & tiged with it but brazing is easier & much higher success rate
