  • bobcat 225 run time

What the amount of time a bobcat 225nt will run on a full tank of fuel. I have a job to bid away from any power source. I've ran the machine but can remember running it all day constantly.
    .
    Miller Bobcat 225NT onan
    Millermatic 211
    Spoolmate 100
(Retapped to fit regular mig tips)
Work better & less parts to stock.
    Miller 130xp
    T/A Dragster 85 (portability 11 pounds)
    Oxygen/Acetylene torch set 50'
    2. 4-1/2" grinders
    1. 9" grinder
    14" Makita chop saw
    1/2" Aircat impact gun 900#

Too many variables, including , if the machine will be loaded all day. or merely running a grinder, how its tuned. But about 12 hrs, give or take. Best just to bring extra fuel.

Loaded to the tits, or idling, is the rpm set correct, what kinda oil and is it full what kinda airfilter, and is it clean, see alotta variables. I think there is a graph in the owners manual on fuel to output. Not sure though as I seldom have a need for an owners manual

If your so worried about the cost of fuel when bidding a job due to the fuel of the welder tells me your working way to cheap. you should be charging not less than $65.00 hr. to around $ 100 per hr. The average is $ 75.00 hr.

If your worried you might run out of fuel take extra fuel.

If the welder is not running good do a tune up.

If your bid is coming down to the fuel as the factor if you make it or break it, you got problems. If it's a small job, I always throw in a couple hundred extra just to offset the little things....like running out of wire mid job, or you drop your angle grinder and break a cutoff wheel. I mean let's be honest, it costs about the same to fill up your welders fuel as it does to buy one multi flap. There is plenty of competition everywhere, there is also practical ways to bid jobs. Can you just charge a set price per day to cover your fuel? Like a flat $35.00 regardless of what happens, then no matter what your gonna be covered. Nobody makes it by constantly bidding close and "accurate", cause no matter what some gremlin will rear it's ugly head.

My theory on this is if your the best at what you do,there is no competition because you are the COMPETITION!!!And if a customers are looking for cheap I tellm don't call me.I,m good, not Cheap!

I have never been the cheapest.
I make sure my customers believe I will be the best choice because I will do a better job. I'm nearly always the highest by far.
Often times I try to get the "price shoppers" to go elsewhere.....it only seems to build resolve
Back on the Bobcat, what does your sparkplugs look like? How about your air filter? Have you tried fuel additives etc. ?
I have a 225NT and it is pretty much in need of a total engine rebuild. Once it gets to that point you may wanna get a newer machine. Mine is a 1997 model, and that is pretty old for a machine running on what is basically a lawn mower engine IMO. Yours may be cherry with low hours. Mine has had the living crap ran out of it, despite the fact that I am sentimental towards it
