  • Circuit Boards and Real Cold Weather?

Question: Is it better to avoid firing up a welder with circuit boards (like a Sync 250DX) when the machine is really cold (like 20°F)?

I know they say it's best to keep a "work" computer running 24/7 so you don't have hot/cold cycles 10 times per week that could cause caps to go bad or solder joints to loosen due to the thermal expansion/contraction ... so is this a concern with the integrated circuits on welding machines?

True probably not the best. I'd think the cold /heat cycles would deteriorate the primary/secondary transformers.

Personally, I hang a low wattage patio infared heater in my garage 24/7 in the winter. Never gets really cold, protects my chopper and other toys
