is it safe to weld on the trailer that my engine driven welder is mounted on?

i recently purchased a canox engine driven welder and trailer. i would like to do some welding on the trailer it self like welding a tool box on . boxing in and locking my cables . along with some outriggers on the sides and back for torches and other gear. problem is i do not own a tripod or hoist to lift the welder off the trailer and i am worried about the possibility of shorting or burning out something in my welder if i weld on the trailer its on. any advise would be greatly appreciated.
