  • Millermatic 130 auto arc problem

Hello everyone!I have a millermatic 130 auto arc that was given to me with problems. It was known to have a problem but had been sitting in a garage for 15 years or so(not really sure). The problem is, it will kick out the circuit breaker when i squeeze the gun trigger trying to run out wire. First I unhooked the wire and gun making sure no short there. Did a test and just as soon as i squeeze the trigger like its full bore welding and about 10 seconds later circuit breaker trips. I sent it in to a shop and they said the firing circuit card was bad and they couldn't get a replacement. I searched the internet and found a place that had a board and they tested it and sent it. I changed the card out and still have same trouble. Any ideas of where to check next? ps used the same plug as my 250.. Thanks.

Did you jumper the trigger terminals at the machine with a paper clip or a piece of mig wire, cause the gun is the likely suspect....

Now when you say circuit breker, is tht the one on the machine or the breaker on the wall....

Is that machine a 240volt model? Or is your "250 outlet" a 115volt branch circuit?

Ehh, never thought of that, most of the 130's were 120 powered, maybe a serial # would clarify?

Breaker on wall, and used a jumper wire for terminal at machine, also both units are 240 volts. serial number JF895874

That particular machine doesn't come up even as an owners manual. Being a 1985, There isn't much info on it. Really want to verify on its data plate that it is a 230 model, Breaker on the wall goes, its a failed output diode.

Checked output diode it tested ok. I found that welding wire is always live some voltage is bleed thru, when the welding wire touches the ground cable without trigger pulled wire grabs turns red and melts

Still didn't address the input voltage as noted on the data of the machine. What does it say?
