12VS max voltage
I have a 12VS hooked up to my PipePro 350 thru 100' of 1/0 cable. It burns .045 flux-cored wire like a dream! I know I SHOULD have 2/0 cable, but this is what I had on hand, and haven't had a problem so far.

None of my customers use 1/0 other than for the whip. Never the less, 1/0 should work, . Now the voltage reading is pretty much direct read from the cables. And naturally you cannot adjust it unless you had a remote.. Maybe get a handheld meter and check to verify. I like the older LN-25's and the Miller X-treme units as they seldom break down. Now arc control on the Lincoln will be sorta backwards in CV, negative#'s are for a flat weld, where the positives are for vertical and over head. It's the otherway around for Stick Confusing but you get used to it.
Inside the cover on the Xtreme there are switches for CC/CV (CV) & Softstart (useless)Last edited by cruizer; 09-25-2014, 02:46 PM.

Besides, 100' of 1/0 is pretty useless anyways. The voltage drop will be amplified. You need 2/0 minimum. NO ONE I know of uses 1/0 especially on a 600 amp machine, GEEZ
I will say..... After the 12VS failed to perform, I rented an LN25 and used it with the same machine and the same leads. The LN25 kicked butt. Looks like a new LN25 will be the first piece of lincoln equipment in my arsenal.
Only question is, do I sell the 12VS or buy 2/0 leads?

12VS max voltage
Is there a maximum voltage the 12VS suite case can be set at? I've got 100' of 1/0 lead plugged into a Lincoln Vantage 500. The vantage is set at CV 28 volts. The wire feeder won't read above 24.5 volts. It's laying down cold beads. We've tried different weld machines and it's the same 24.5 limit.
The wire feeder is a couple years old but very low usage due to all the problems I have using itTags: None
