I would think with the 12vs being an across the arc set up that wouldn't work ....12rc prob would be fine , you will need a feeder with the 14 pin connection ....as an aside the 12vs isn't great for mig , it's ok at a pinch but it's more of a fluxcore unit ....

Ahh, no you need a $$$ MPA feeder. getting a standard 70 series, will not get you any farther...

The S-70 feeder has no internal programming for a MPA power source, so no way in heck its going to work.

If you had a Optima hooked in between the power source and feeder, then possible. I mean that the MPA power source has no way of using its pulse functions with out some machine telling it what to do...

It works good. I have the same set up. A miller tech should be able to get you through it. If not pm me.

yep Marty at miller walked us right though the setup and the suitcase 12vs works great for pulse welding. That xmt 350 mpa is some kind of set up. Rick at miller helped us get started on the settings and we are good to go. anybody using this combination just needs to set the xmt into manual setup mode (turn machine on while holding down the setup button) and then its not hard to figure out. I have used this 12vs for everything for years hooked to a trailblazer been a great machine. only thing they told me not to coil my leads will mess with the pulse

Thas what I thought too, apparently thats not the case. The XMT MPA can be set up manually. The problem here is that being manual, the feeder will not recognize, nor compensate for wire stickouts and likely go wonky. The MPA feeders are synergic.

Well i have used the suitcase on pulse mode for 2 days now and am very happy with the results. The speed is greatly increase over mig and i can be kinda lazy on the out of position welds that we deal with and still have good welds, I am sure that the 74 series mpa feeder would be better because its synergic to the xmt and i would only have to deal with one setting but i am really surprised how easy this is to dial in. still would like to buy the mpa feeder one day.
