Just bought a new Syncrowave 250CC, need help wiring it

Hello all, I've been reading this forum for years and have gained a ton of knowledge, but this is my first post. I've been welding with a mig for several years now and about a year ago moved up to tiging with a little ThermalArc that I got on CraigsList for $300 with the bottle and regulator included.I finally upgraded the other day to a Syncrowave 250CC (a STEAL of a deal again on CL) and need help wiring it. The last owner had it hard wired, but I want to add a plug. There are 4 wires, but because 1 of the wires (white) is cut much shorter than the others (almost completely covered by the rubber seething) I don't think that last owner used it. Exposed are the red, black and green wires.Does anyone know how to add a 220 plug to this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not an electrician, but I think 4 wires = a 3 phase machine !
So it's Not a 220 volt welder.

If it's a regular Syncrowave 250 AC/DC, should be just two hot wires and a ground. Can be jumpered for different input voltages, so you might want to double check how it is set up unless you know the guy was using it on 240V.

The previous owner probably used 4-wire cord because he had it on hand.
You only need 3 of the wires- that's why the white wire is cut short and not used.

Buy a 6-50P and use the wires that are exposed on the existing power cord.
Green to the rounded post and the other 2 wires go to the flat blades--Doesn't matter which one as they are interchangeable.

Thank you Broccoli1, I'm going to wire it tonight then. The reason I want to add a plug is because I am using it at my house, and the laundry room is right next to my garage, so until I can fully tackle adding a 220 in the garage I can just unplug the dryer.

Out of sheer curiosity, what is a fair price for this set up used? Included was a Radiator 1A torch cooler, a 180 tank (full) and a very sturdy = heavy cart to hold it all. Plus the guy threw in 7 clamps, 2 were Mac and the rest were "no names." Isn't the bottle alone worth over $200?

Here is a link to the manual... just plug in your serial number to get the correct version..

The manual will answer a bunch of questions including "Strap" positions for your available shop voltage...

Just match up the plug to the receptacle in the wall.

Just note that you will not be able to run it at anywhere near full power off of that 30 amp dryer outlet. I don't think that you are going to have much luck plugging that recommended 6-50 P plug into that outlet either. Match the plug to the outlet and run at reduced power and you will be OK until you get the correct power line and outlet run. See your owner's manual for the input/output power curve.

Our circa 1994 (?) Sync 250 with a Coolmate 3 has popped a 70A breaker once or twice on real cold startup. 30 Amps is barely enough to get the unit up and the fan running.

That machine is not designed to be cobbled on a dryer circuit.
