    Make sure it's a dedicated 20amp circuit.

Unplug anything else on that circuit.

If it is try turning it down below max level on 120V

Just a longshot; have you cut on this particular circuit previously?

It could be wired as an arc fault interrupter circuit which will not run a plasma cutter

I'd guess it would trip as there is NOT ANY 120 capability on a 625

The spec sheet says it automatically reduces output to 27 amps for 120vac operation. The thread title states it is an xtreme model.

Out of curiosity, I looked at the Spectrum 625 Xtreme spec sheet on this Miller website, and here is what shows for INPUT POWER

          :4-1. Specifications
          Power Supply

          Input
Rated AC phase (PH) and line frequency (Hz) 1 PH 60 Hz — —
Rated Input Voltage (U1) and rated Input
Current (I1) and I1 eff at rated output. I1 eff used
          to determine power cord rating
          Volts AC RMS − (U1) Amps RMS − (I1) I1 eff

          208 1 PH
          230 1 PH

No 120v as Cruizer has already stated.

          P.S.
There was also a warning about incorrect input voltage damaging the machine. Soooo.

            from product page

            Spectrum® 625 X-TREME™ with XT40 Torch

Big cutting power in a small package - the industry's most portable and powerful 40-amp plasma cutter offers 5/8 in. mild steel cutting. The unit offers easy connection to 120V or 240V input with Auto-Line technology and MVP Adapters.

            confusing no?

Apparently some models of the 625 run on 120, and some models don't. All depends on the serial#. Personally If the machine is autoline, then I'd trust it to work properly. So if you have a newer machine, lower the nozzle sizes. Maybe having a fault there.

Are you connecting direct to the receptacle or using an extension cord?
