  • Trailblazer 325 tmp1 error

We recently purchased 6 Trailblazer 325 units all this year. We are upgrading our fleet from bobcat unit to eliminate the drain on unit when welding and using 120 power for other projects. So far we have had nothing but problems with these units the first 2 units both with under 50hrs continue to have tmp1 errors. I believe this is due to inefficient airflow and construction of unit. I think the tmp1 Error is notification a thermal overload switch has opened. of the 2 units one we have been able to utilize with a fan constantly running on unit. the other still suffers and continues to have Problems ( it is located in Texas with higher Outside Temperatures ). The older bobcat units ran for years and all had around 2k hrs with no issues. Please let me know if this issue is being addressed. There should be a recall on this product and a revamping of design to improve airflow. Very Frustrated with performance. Don't want to return them yet just want issue resolved.

    Hey Nate,

There are lots of threads here about that machine overheating. I'm sure you can find those through a search. Cruiser will want your serial numbers so he can look up specifics of the machine.

It is also worth a call to the miller support number if you haven't done that yet.

Owned 3 trailblazer 302s, and one 275 they were great machines. When my new service truck was ordered i was given the option of a ranger 305g or a trailblazer 325. I went with the ranger. 100 hrs so far, no issues, and i use my machine to air arc all the time so she gets worked. I will say once the tb325 get worked out im sure it will be a nice machine. Just did not want to be the guiena pig. They weld very nice.

Run em at high idle, this is the only way to cool components off on a hot day. kinda takes away from the low idle fuel savings. What we've been doing is removing the air clean plastic cover, removing the power robbing foam element from the air cleaner, blocking the air flywheel port, and propping open the top cover. This allows more cooling air to flow over the engine fins. So the engine cools better, and the air moves better to cool the rectifiers, boards and windings. Plus the engine isn't ingesting super heated air.

Really its an interesting design, but not a well thought out one for the high heat, or even low cold areas. I never particularly liked them, nor do I see many around anymore.

Status Update tmp1 error Trailblazer 325

I just wanted to thank everyone for there replies. Especially the Miller Production and PPGService Group. The Miller team quickly reached out and identify a PC board issue and have been working with us to get the questionable boards replaced.

If anyone else comes across this issue with the trailblazer 325 units. Check your serial #. You may need a new PC-2 board if your machine was built prior to Serial#ME400330R.

So far we have swapped boards on 3 of the 6 welders we purchased. I will update this post again after the summer to confirm the problem is no longer occurring.

What we found, is if you block the 2 flywheel to air filter holes and leave the 2 front ones open, the engine would run significantly cooler in the summer months. No more problems with the Temp1
