  • Dynasty 200 or 300

I am interested in the dynasty series machines. The 200 seem to be better suited for my purpose in that it is so small and portable. I will be using the machine to weld in confined space at times. The issue is the limitations with 200 amps. The census with my competors is that the 300 would be there only choice due to the fact that it can tig 1/2" aluminium. What do you think?

The 300 will be limited to 225 amps or less on single phase power. If you have three phase input power and don't mind the extra weight, go for the 300. I have tigged 1/2" and thicker with the Dynasty 200DX. Just bevel and make a few more passes. I have heard of people tigging 3/4" al with the Dynasty. It all depends on your prep work, gas mix, and experience.

I love the 200 and would not make an even trade for a 300. My 2 cents. Go with what your gut feelings tell you. You are you. Do what you feel is right for you-NOT YOUR COMPETITION.

    Tough decision?

1 phase is my limit even thou the big brother will be a pipe pro or Trailblazer 350,was looking at the 301D but was a little to loud. If my budget permits a new Plasma the 350 beig updated to the 2050 ,3080 ,It's just money... Thanks for your input, it is greatly appreciated from a noobie....

        I disagree

I have never had a problem going up past 275 amps with the 300 on house current. I love the dynasty line. If your going portable, the 200 is hard to beat. Although the 300 is small in comparison with other machines, i wouldn't take it to the field. The 200 will be my next purchase for field work. 200 amps of advanced square wave power is alot. I've welded up cracks in aluminum cylinder heads {cold, no preheat} with less than 200 amps.

The dynasty 300 will deliver 300amps, actually I believe the current limit is 316 amps, on either single or three phase power. You may be thinking of the xmt 304, which is current limited on single phase. Not to worry, a new model, the xmt 350 will be arriving in early 2004 which will provide 300amps,60%duty-cycle on single phase and 425amps on three phase.

I APOLOGIZE FOR THE MIX UP!

You guys are right. The Dynasty 300 will push 300 on single phase. I had the XMT in mind. Thanks for setting me straight.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

                Anybody,

Does anybody have a Dynasty 300 for sale or trade? Accessories are not necessary unless they come with it.

                Thanks
