I have a Miller Legend AEAD 200LE that I'm trying to bring back to life. Its been sitting outside for years. After a little TLC the motor is running like a champ and its generating power. However when I strike an arc and the auto idle solenoid engages it stops generating power until the auto idle disengages. If I rev it up manually it still supplies power but as soon as that solenoid kicks in , nothing. Any ideas on what to check?

Miller AEAD 200LE problem with auto idle

You have 2 100v plugs. One is located near the middle of the machine and one near the far right. The middle plugs should stop generating power in the weld mode or high idle. The one to the far right should have power in weld mode.
This is normal. If the plugs in the middle stayed energized in high idle they would create 200 vac and ruin any tool plugged into them.
Does this help?

That's exactly what it's supposed to do.
The Legend AEAD generates 60hz AC power at 1800rpm but welds at 3000rpm.
If the unit didn't disable auxiliary power at weld speed, any power equipment connected to an auxiliary AC power receptacle would see 100hz power at a voltage in excess of 115V and likely be quickly damaged.
That said, the unit has an outlet that produces 115VAC/100hz power that can be used for non-frequency sensitive equipment.
Do you have the unit manual? If not, go here http://www.millerwelds.com/service/o...uals.php?model with the unit SN to access and download the correct one.MM200 w/spot controller and Spoolmatic 1

Not much really.
. . . "incandescent lights and universal motor tools." are two examples given in the unit manual. Resistance heaters (w/o fan) falls into this category as well.MM200 w/spot controller and Spoolmatic 1

Here's the manual for your unit based on its SN.
You'd find it here:

I already have the manual and know that miller has discontinued the part but I cannot afford a new machine and really need someone to tell me how to deal with the problem considering miller isn't making parts for older machines and forgot the average working Joe ain't got 8-20,000 dollars to buy the new welder there pushing
