    Hi all I have been looking at job ads in Alberta
    For rig welders
    I see some places are asking for rig savers on your rig!
    What is this ??
    Anyone!

    Apparently it is a safety device used on diesel engines. If high levels of hydrocarbons are found in the inlet, it shuts off the inlet to prevent engine over rev.

    The company that makes it is from Alberta. Sounds like they did a good sales job on someone.......

      The shut down devices have been required for many years in some areas.
      A runnaway diesel is an ugly thing.

        Yep, had a friend that was killed several years ago when a Detroit diesel on an older dozer decided to run away. Apparently he was trying to get to the emergency shutdown when the flywheel blew up.
