Grinding Tungsten - Red Hot

Does it harm the tungsten when grinding it if it gets red hot from the friction of the wheel?

in my experience... tungsten does not usually heat up that much when ground...

are you grinding very agressively??

or really leaning on it??

guess I would suggest going a bit easier on it... no need to get RED hot...

I would think it depends on the type of tungsten, I weld mostly stainless so I use red band which usually never gets red when I grind it, now my green band tungsten does but it hasn't affected my welding

:-) Yeah I tend to be impatient with just about everything.

Since during the weld it can get to ~10,000 (white hot) degrees so assumed it probably didn't hurt it but was curious.

It get's way hotter than that when welding with it. And you reuse it for more than one welding session. So in light of that, anything you do to it with a grinding wheel (as far as heat is concerned) isn't going to damage it in any way.

Although when welding it is in an inert gas cloud. Mine gets dipped for extra protection.
