  • Question for Pistol8

Where did you get that rod heater you talked about in another post? I am interested in one of these. Thanks

    chub380,

I don't know where PISTOL8 got his, but I found one at a local gun shop. I think Cabella's outdoors catalog also has them. They are available in several sizes and rated by cubic foot of enclosed space they will be placed in. Here is a web link for complete purchasing info. It will give you local dealers, etc.

    Good Luck

When I worked for my dad in his welding shop, he took an old fridge (which anybody can get for free) and disconnected the compressor and hot wired the bulb to stay on all the time. That was a sweet warm unit! Large enough to even put your MIG wire in.

              refridgator?

ANDY HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN WHAT A REFRIDGERATOR IS FOR? THEY DON'T KEEP ADULT BEVERAGES COLD WITH THE COMPRESSOR UNHOOKED. JUST KIDDING THERE HAS TO BE TIME TO COOL OFF AFTER ALL THIS GOOD WELDING TIME. I KNOW ITS HARD TO WELD IN LONG SLEEVES AND LEATHER DOWN HERE IN SUNNY FLORIDA BUT SOMEBODY HAS TO DO IT! WE GOT A BIGGER FRIDGE FOR THE COLD ONES AND USED OUR OLD ONE FOR ROD. YOUR ALSO RIGHT ABOUT MIG WIRE IN THERE ALL OF OUR RODS GO IN IT, EVEN OUR TIG WIRES BECAUSE OF OUR HIGH HUMIDITY. THANKS FOR THE FORUM PISTOL8

                Andy,

A friend of mine does exactly the same thing as your dad did with the refrigerator, except he uses an old, large microwave oven, which he keeps on top of his shop refrigerator (the one with the compressor hooked up)...

With all the welders running in the shop, I can't afford a cold fridge....I have my wife dress up in a barmaid outfit and bring cold ones on the hour
