You can run scratch start tig for dc with a dry rig if x-ray is not an issue. I have the 301G and faced the same dilemma of the high freq box versus running an inverter from auxillary power. Figure the cost of the HF box and accessories and compare to the Dynasty 200 series. The Dynasty will be more money, but which is the better value for your application? Only you can decide. If you are running dc and have to have the amps, consider making a torch cooling system with a sump pump and using a 250 amp or larger water cooled torch.
