    I would

use a "Saw-sall" if you have room to use one in there. I have a plasma too, but like you mentioned, will it change the metal characteristics(crystallize the metal around the cut)? Someone in metallurgics should be able to jump in and help you.

    Cutting Cast Iron with Plasma

I am repowering a 1943 Dodge Power Wagon with a Cummins Diesel. The old rear motor mounts are also the spring perch. I need to cut the motor mount away from the spring perch. The cast is .3750" thick.
Can I cut this with Plasma or will I get Hydrogen Embrittlement and weaken the spring perch ? I will be cutting right up to the spring perch. If plasma is wrong, what is suggested.,

    Thanks
    Paul
