I have A Miller Trailblazer 301D, I would like to mig weld aluminum. What spool gun should I get and what do I need to hook it up?
Thank you for your help.
Wayne
I have the gasoline version of your machine-The 301G. I use the 30A spoolgun and the WC24 weld controller. One side of the WC24 hooks to the 30A spoolgun and the other side to the 14 pin connector on your 301D. I also use a 75 feet connector cable between the welder and the WC24. It has 14 pin connectors one each end (one male, on female). There are three part numbers depending on the cable length:
25 feet - 122 973
50 feet - 122 974
75 feet - 122 975
You don't have to use an extension cable, but it sure makes things easier!
WC24 137 549
30A 130 831
15A the same gun with only 15 feet of hose cable rather than 30 feet
15A 195 156
It's a great set up. I typically run .035 filler in 4043 or 5356. The gun feeds great. The wire speed adjustment is at the bottom of the spoolgun handle-neat feature and time saver. Just flip your panel to remote, set your voltage, and adjust your wire speed at the gun. It does spray and short arc very well. You will also need a gas regulator which attaches to the end of the 30 feet gas line feeding the spoolgun(included with 30A). I assume you will be using 100% argon. One feature I forgot to mention. The barrel is adjustable with a locking nut for contact tip to nozzle adjustment. Also a new and improved cool feature. I am extemely satisfied with the set up!
Oops-don't forget to set your process switch to remote CV.
DOUBLE CHECK WITH MILLER ON THE PART NUMBERS. I HOPE THERE ARE NO TYPOS.
