andy or any one out there on the web i was wondering if anyone knew of ant websites for trailers and how to build them . i currently have to build a custom car trailer for custom cars and also a horse trailer for two horses. i have built smaller trailers in the past but what im looking for is true dimensions like a blue print on how to build them from the wheels up ,also in these two builds i will have to put on either hydraulic brakes or electric to control the weight on descents. i have been on line looking for companys but no luck so far and some even want to charge for a trailer plan which might not even work,so any info would be greatly appreciated.....mahalo,turtle

Hi Turtle...........there are a group of trailer builders out there on line....If you log onto www.hobartwelders.com you will find many folks building trilers....... From dump trailers to trailers with smokers on them for cooking. However I'm not sure anyone has built a horse trailer yours will be a first......... Do the search I think mainly there are 3 with plans, parts, or kits.........I'm not sure about any in Hawaii though...............In case no one told you before........ trailers

Try the University Ag Extension Service in your state. They have many plans (usually free) and should have some trailer plans. Most plans are not online but drawings are available. If you can't find them in your state, I have access to the Tennessee ones (that's my occupation). There is a 16 ft goosneck livestock trailer plan and possibly a smaller bumper hitch. Many Vo-Ag departments have them as well (Missouri used to have a nice notebook with a bunch of those type shop plans).

        Great info Qualls!!

It's great to find alternative sources for material. I would have never thought to look there.

        Thanks for the post!

If you are building trailers professionally, try http://www.qtrailer.com , really good folks, I have been dealing with them for a few years now, it was just too expensive to buy parts from Northern Handyman and try to compete with people that make a 16 ft. two axel, 7,000# car trailer that can retail for $1,500.00.
