I have access to wire that comes on a spool that's used on a robot mig welder at work. I was wonder if Er4043 wire is the same for both mig & tig? Was curious if I could grab some and use it on my tig welder.

Yea.. It's just gonna be smaller diameter and not straightened.

This stuff is 3/64 thick its not the tiny .035 stuff. What size rod do most use?

3/64 is = to .047 wire. Most of the aluminum wire I use is 3/32", 1/8" & 1/16" on the thin stuff.

You can take it & cut it into 36" lengths. Then put two or three strands together, one end in a vise & the other in a drill & twist them together. Time consuming but when you run out of tig wire on the weekend it works to finish a job.
