  • Plasma Cutter ????

I purchased a Miller Spectrum 375 Plasma Cutter earlier this month, and the instructions had no guidelines on setting up the machine for optimising the cuts for different metal thicknesses. Right now I'm cutting a lot of 11 gauge hot rolled. The kerf is clean, but I'm getting quite a bit of slag on the backside of the cut.
What can I do to minimize the slag build up?

Could be a travel speed problem. If you go too slow, it will build up slag. The plasma stream should cut almost straight through with maybe a little deflection to the rear of travel. Make sure your air pressure is not too high. I would guess the slag should be about 1/8th and will chip off clean to the bottom of the kerf.

      Hope this helps.

I'll play with the adjustments tonight.

I'm getting a clean, straight cut ( no drag ). I'll do some experimenting w/ cutting speed, etc.

Is there a chart that shows metal thickness vs. amperage vs. air pressure that I missed ??
