    I vote for quality abrasives. Ever since my friend who works for 3M introduced me to 3M's Cubitron-II grinding disks, I always try to find my abrasives in this flavor. They are flat out AWESOME. Even if they cost up to 3x as much depending on the actual item.

      Uh, no. Those are personal tools. You need to have your own tools, unless you're a primadonna union shop company man, then I guess they supply you underwear as well. But in the real world you carry your own personal hand tools, helmet, glasses, hammer, tape, etc. even small clamps should be considered personal tools.

        Maybe I'm misunderstanding the word "apprentice." It specifically implies one is working under a journeyman or master, who will be the one who knows exactly what jobs you are doing, and, therefore what tools you should be having.
