Q. What is the best method to weld roll cages? (Submitted by: Aaron from Green Bay)
A. Most NASCAR Teams use the MIG process to weld their cars together. It’s fast, clean, and less expensive than other processes.
There are a few people that TIG weld chassis. The concept is a stronger and lighter weld (because of less filler material). This is a very time consuming way to assemble a car. It is also very dependant on accurate fit-up of all tubing joints.
Some sanctioning bodies require tig welding of chassis. However, NASCAR does not. So for me, Wirefeed is the way to go!
