Q. I don't have an 230 outlet; will the Millermatic 130xp be good enough for some frame work? I'd like to stiffen the chassis on my 427 Cobra replica in a couple areas. (Submitted by: Brent Mills from Nebraska)
A. A MM-130XP would be good for frame areas not larger than 1/8". Make sure you have the area ground clean of pain and rust. I would also "V" out any cracks and fill them in with weld. This ensures you have proper penetration through the cracked joint. Use a .030 70S3 or 70S6 wire with straight CO2 or 75/25 mix. The straight CO2 will give you a little more penetration but also a little more spatter.
