  • Coating the inside of the tubes on a hot rod

    Q. I am planning to weld in a roll-cage, sub-frame connectors, & aftermarket rear frame rails in my '63 Nova. What methods can I use to coat/protect the inside of the tubing/weld joints to prevent corrosion? Also, for what applications is weld-through primer applicable? (Submitted by: Jason Huxol from Mansfield, TX )

    A. To be honest, we never coat the inside of the tubes on our race cars. The best place I can recommend for a good answer on hot rod coatings would be Fat Man Fabrication in Charlotte, NC. They do it all there! The guy you want to talk with is Brent or Mike at 704-545-0369. You can tell them Andy from MILLER welders referred you.
