Honestly, I've done very little pipe welding, would you still recommend these Lincolns if you were going to do structural?

Actually the arc is significantly better than the Classic 300D. And yes since we are on the topic. I'd recommend the 305G for any process.

Yes I'm using a 305G right now for some pretty heavy structural. 3/16 7018 all day for 10 hours a day. All welds mag particle inspection and no problems yet. The only thing is the noise of the high revving engine lol

And the machine is just shy of 7000 hours !!!! No major problems with it just regular maintenance and synthetic oil. Never had to go inside of the generator.

Yes the arc may be better but the only thing I like about the arc on the 200 and 300D is you can play around with the arc a bit more as the arc on the choppers always seems to be a bit crisp and I can't seem to get it to wet out my caps like I want.

How are the 305 G for running a suitcase with metal core as this would save me some time well allot of time. Just don't know how the machine would hold up as it doesn't gouge all that great anymore. I did burn allot of 1/4 7018 with it when it was newer tho and it ran it fine

Yup, buy a new one. They don't seem to depreciate much anyway.

1 stupid thing about new 305G's though is that Lincoln put the fuel vent midheight in the filler neck last year. This means you cannot fill it right full, rather you gotta turn on the ignition switch and fill it according to the gauge which isn't that accurate. Stupid design on their part.

The previous versions just vented thru the cap, so you could fill them right full.

Ya no that's not a good deal at all, my Buddy if selling his for 6500 1700 hrs and 100 feet of remote and in like mint shape.only selling cause he went down to a single wheel and now runs a 305G
