Q. I've been racing go-karts for about 10 years now and I am starting to build a kart frame myself. I was wondering what kind of steel to use along with what type of weld would be the best? (Submitted by: Jeff Yannetta from Unknown)
A. Most people use a mild steel, DOM tubing and MIG it up. Depending on what your rules allow, you might try 4130 Chrome-Moly and TIG it together. The Chrome-Moly will be lighter and stronger. Good luck and have fun!
