  • Is the MM 250X good choice for .250 tubing?

    Q. I work on open wheel dirt cars and am doing a ground up restoration on a 69 Chevy truck....installing a custom rear clip and wanted to know if the Millermatic 250X is the welder for me...most of the metal is 1/4 inch thick. Also, how many amps does this machine pull? Thanks (Submitted by: Brad from unknown)

    A. The MM 250X or the Vintage would be great choices for you. The custom rear clip is made of .250 tubing?? That's fairly thick for a rear clip. You'll need a tow motor to lift it in place. You'll draw anywhere between 30 and 40 amps with these machines with a 230 Volt primary.Sounds like a cool project!Hope this helps you out. Have fun.
