    Q. WHICH PROCESS IS THE BEST FOR WELDING .035 WALL CROMEMOLY TUBING, AND DO I HAVE TO STRESS RELIEVE AFTER WELDING OR NORMALIZE? (Submitted by: SCOTT SMITH from Unknown)

    A. .035 Chrome-Moly would be best to be TIG welded. Not knowing exactly what the application is, if your fit up is tight enough and you keep your arc lengths and heat to a minimum, you shouldn't have to stress relieve. Keep a low arc length and don't over weld the area. Notch the tubing for a tight fit so you don't have to use excess filler or heat input. Again not knowing your application, you could use various filler metals as well. In most of our race car stuff we use an ER70S-2 or ER70S-6 to help with elongation or flexibility. If you are looking for a total rigid piece, use a 312 or 4130 filler.
