  • Should I complain, miller helmet?

Went today to LWS and bought my first big money welding helmet. Mostly because I got my FIRST welding job (WOOT WOOT). Bought I Miller elite series Stars and Stripes II. Love the weight of the helmet and its my first auto helmet so I didn't wanna get a flimsy. The salesman cut me a decent deal i thought but it was still a good amount of money. Open the package and boom right there on the top of helmet looks like the clear coat wasn't applied, its about a 2in by 2in spot and i don't wanna seem like a little *****, but money is money especailly with a little one on the way. So i ask fellow Miller loyalist, Should i complain, or get off the soap box and get back to welding.

No worries Miller still a proud loyalist of your products.

Yes. This should be covered under warranty.

I would not care to live with that. Your LWS should not have any problem as long as you still have your receipt.

If I was gonna put it right to work, I might be tempted to simply fade in a shot of clear myself. And move on. But I only buy that sort of stuff when I am gonna use it as soon as I get back. YMMV

I wouldn't even have complained here, I'd march back into that LWS, and exhanged it. Plain and simple.

They would have sent it back to Miller and all would have been fine....

I would have went right back there but there where closed for the day already. I have worked it out with my wife to take it back while i'm school and meet me at my job at noon to give the new one to me. I brought it up on here because they guy gave a discount at the store and i feel partially bad for complaining about it. But as i've been told that discount was on a pristine helmet and not a flawed helmet. THANKS GUYS.

I always open stuff up and look at it right in the store. Truthfully though, I'd have just bought the black one, as they show less wear over time. Mine is scarred up for years of use, and from sticking my head/hood into tight spaces.

Ahhh, yeah, discount, hmmmm. if you ask for a discount, or "can you do any better" the sales man has alot of wiggle room. I know what the retail and wholesale prices are, and I do know the actual cost. Rest assured you didn't come close to it.

It's no problem for them to send the helmet back. They don't loose anything, and your a happy customer.

Next time check cyberweld.com, best prices. If you don't get it there at least bring a print out of the price and see if your local dealer can match it. I did that with a dynasty 200 DX runner w/wireless remote and got it for $5000.00, worth a try.

i to have the black one, and i dont eve think the Miller decail is on it anymore....
also it is not always best to march on a new job with a new helmet, i think the scars on your helmet shows experance in the field. no marks...no experance, and you will be treated accordangly...
