  • AEAD 200LE Repair Manual

Where can I get a repair manual for the AEAD 200LE, s/n JH173261? The unit will no longer switch to weld speed when I strike an arc. The weld/power switch works, though. It might be the idler board, but I also heard it could be a breaker. If the breaker only has 2 contacts, I would think it should show 0 ohms across the contacts to pass current and an open circuit would indicate tripped condition.
    Thanks.

Check you idle switch, make sure it opens and closes, Then put 12 vdc to the throttle solenoid and see if it pulls in. Check connections to the idle pcb.
Should be a diagram pasted to one of the welders covers or in the back of the owners manual. Down load it from this site. Sometimes the pcb shorts out and locks the idle in one position.

you might check the governor... here is a link to the owners book... it does have the schematics and some limited troubleshooting in it..

Does the engine speed increase to WELD speed with the AUTO IDLE in the OFF position? If it does, the throttle solenoid is OK and the idler control board or idler current transformer would be suspect if all connections are OK.

If not, is there 12vdc to wire #40 at the solenoid connector?
If there is, does wire #41 at the solenoid connector go to ground with the AUTO IDLE switch in the OFF position.

If yes to both of the above, the solenoid is likely defective or terminal connections at the solenoid connector are bad.

When checking the connections at idler PC1, make sure wire #33 on terminal "J" is make good contact to ground as that is where the control board and solenoid gets 12VDC(-) for proper operation.

          Duane,
Yes, the engine speed in WELD position with AUTO IDLE in off.
When should there be 12vdc at wire #40? That would be terminal "B", correct?
Yes, wire #41 goes to ground when AUTO IDLE is OFF.
          Terminal "J" is grounded.

Instead of going on and on here, I can send you the technical manual on that machine.

PM me with your email address.

              Problem is intermediate

Whatever the problem is, it's intermediate. The auto idle starting working again today. I think it's a bad connection somewhere. Thank you all for all your help. This is a great forum.
