I know all machines have thier limits. But for just the **** of it what is the thickest aluminum you've welded sucessfully with a dynasty 200? Please specify if external pre heat source was involved. This has nothing to do with anything other than my brain on overtime thinking.

I know I've done over 1/2" dozens of times.
Anyone who has replaced a skeg has done the same thing as well. They are more like 5/8" in the middle on many.
IMO it is more about the mass and the type of joint.
I have welded out in the middle of the bottom of 1/4" thick hulls with a bulkhead made in a "t" right above when it was cracked. Good amount of mass there.
I can be a bit too light in the pants, but if you let it set a bit and cook before you move, you can still do a lot.
