  • Millermatic 212 question

I have tentatively agreed to purchase a used millermatic 212, but before I finalize the deal I would like to make sure that the older units (3-4 years old) have the same capabilities as the newer models.

The unit I am purchasing is a 3-4 year old millermatic 212 with autoset. Is it the same as the newer models? I want to make sure that I can add a spool gun for welding aluminum.

    Thanks for your help.

      Thanks, Bob.

It looks like the spool guns are compatible with all serial numbers for the 212.

Now, can anyone tell me if there are any significant upgrades to the 212 in the last 3 to 4 years that would make it better to buy new than used?

      Thanks.

I have been reading old threads and it looks like the MM212 was changed from a tap welder to an infinite amperage adjustable welder in about 2009.

I believe I would rather pay $1600 for the new technology and the infinite adjustment rather than $1000 for the older design.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

        Thanks.
