Moisture in low hy rods. No problems,right??

I put all of the bigger lights back on when I switched the SA250 out with the Vantage. So I've been back up to par since about November. I really only used them a few times this winter but, I really could of used the rope lights inside the tool boxes.

I'll get her all fixed up before winter.

It wasn't that long ago I seen you hauling around a "bigger women". Looked like she weighed about 1,500 pounds and was only 34'' tall. Now that your down to a "smaller than most" 200 you want to knock the "big ones"

I guess if you prefer the higher maintenance and MUCH older type, that's fine. I bet after a hard day at work you have to buy her $40 in drinks.

Bigger/older DO have advantages:

They rarely run off and have to stop to recharge their power chairs.

They don' tell, they don't swell (well, more than they are already) and they're grateful as h3ll.

Hang a donut on your pintle hitch and they'll follow you home.

Get a fat tattooed one and you have shade in the summer, heat in the winter, and moving pictures all year long. They are cheaper than waterbeds and require less setup.

They are easy to dress. A blue or red tarp with appropriate decals and they blend in with the rest of your gear.

Haha lol. I hate you. She was more like 1800 pounds and 35'' tall. With the bigger ones, you yourself needs $40 in drinks to justify keeping it around.

Hydrogen cracking is the reason why cellulose electrodes use has been criticized on PL work. (Well, that combined with the newer X80 and higher pipe.)

Most 7018 rods end in H4R. If I remember right, it means that the rod can be out of the oven for 4 hours and not pick up more than 4 ml of hydrogen. H8R would be 8 ml.
I think it is 4 hours at "X" relative humidity but, I have forgotten what it was. I think it was 4ml of hydrogen per so many pounds of rod as well. I'll look it up if I have time.

The "R" or "MR" meets specific low moisture pick up limits under controlled humidification tests.

When RigHand gets done verifying that, maybe he can explain what 8018-C3 rods are used for.

I forget what alloy the C is but I know it's only 1% and C1 is 3%, unlike the chrome rods where B1 is 1 1/4 and B3 is 2 1/4 (I think that's right) That's about all I remember as I haven't used it in about 3 years.

The alpha suffix is the chemical composition of weld deposit

"C" represents %Nickel

C-1 is 2.50%
C-2 is 3.25%
C-3 is 1.00%

E8018-C3 are used for cold service work, and extensively used for big bore cross country transmission line repair, when originally welded with automated systems (bugs)

"B" represents %Chromium and %Molybdenum

B-1 is .50% Cr and .50% Mo
B-2 is 1.25% Cr and .50% Mo
B-3 is 2.25% Cr and 1.00% Mo

Used that C-3 rod on a Q&T 12"sch 120 above ground steam injection line. Its liquidy alright and had to adjust the heat when capping.
