aluminum deal?

i just talked with a guy that posted on Craigs List with this. he wants $400 for all of it. not having much experience with aluminum i figure it is a pretty good deal. any thoughts.

6061 T6, Square Corner.

Flat Bar, 3/16 x 1 1/2 87" long: 150 pieces: 360 lbs

Channel, 1 1/2 x 1/2 x .125 77" long: 400 pieces: 860 lbs.

Square Tube, 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 X .125 108" long: 60 pieces: 500 lbs

This is new stock in very good condition.

Scrap dealers are currently getting about $1.12 per pound for aluminum so if you bought 1,720 pounds for $400, you would be paying about 20¢ on the dollar for its SCRAP price.

What kind of a nut sells aluminum SHAPES for 1/5 of their SCRAP METAL value???

well guys i didn't get it. while talking to him last night i found that another had called ahead of me and was going to look at it this morning. i left my number and name and told him if by chance the guy flaked i would cross his palm with the cash. well apparently this guy wasn't one of cl's finest flakes.. oh well i see deals all the time on cl like this so i guess better luck next time.

yeah my thoughts when i read it. way to good to be true i thought. would have been a sweet deal though.

There was some alum rounds taken from a shop next to ours one night and the funny thing was there was 4 new Lincoln welders sitting there too. Guess the alum doesn't have sn's and would be easier to sell...Bob
