Big Green Pipe

I just got back Jackson, WY and couldn't help but notice a huge pile of pipe, maybe 40 acres plus in the Winnemucca, NV area.
Trucks were hauling it out 2 joints at a time, this was big stuff.
I also saw more than a few welding riggs in the area.
Question
Whats going on?
Where is this pipe going?
Green plastic coating, GAS?
Is there going to be jobs for welders and support crews.

The green coating is fusion bonded epoxy "FBE" Its used on almost all underground piping to prevent corrosion. Some is green, some is dark red.

Its a 42'' natural gas line

If it's the ruby line, then all the mainline will be 798 and most is orbital I think. Compressor stations might be non union though.

Both of my sons on this job. Son #2 running root bead inside the pipe, son #1 running hot pass. All automatic, CRC machines.

There is hte ruby line, that is starting up soon if it hasn't already and then there is the Bison Line thats been going on for a few months now.

Maybe what he means is the section his sons are working on is all automatic.
Even at that I'm sure those sections have some stick rod rigs tailing along to deal with any repairs that might be needed.

There's just no such thing as "all automatic" is there.
Thank goodness for mini gangs.
Automatic only works in easy terrain. The rough country requires a stick rod mini gang.
Tie ins require stick welders.
Lowering in requires stick.
Fab requires stick.
Testing requires stick.
Repairs require stick.
Dig ups require stick.
