  • A ladies digital Elite

The girlfriend finally decided to upgrade from her broken old lincoln autoshade to a real helmet a little while back, finally ending up choosing a Miller D-Elite. Of course none of the graphics offered by Miller really appealed to her so she took matters into her own hands

She used a paper cutting machine (craft/ scrapbooking type of deal) to cut out stencils and then painted it in several different, layered shades. Once that was done she sprayed a couple of layers of clear coat to help keep it looking nice, at least for a little while. All the painting was done using good old fashioned spray cans.

At least she won't have to worry about you using her hood. Looks good though wish my girl would weld with me.

        Nice job

I seem to recall someone of the female persuasion on this board complaining about the lack of female-themed stuff. I think it was in relation to the helmet design challenge Miller ran recently. Perhaps the complainer will take a hint from your girlfriend. Or even better - perhaps your girlfriend will start a side business!

          Frank's right.
your girlfriend could make some side money doing custom helmet graphics.

          Nice job

            Love it

Ask her if I can feature her and her tricked out helmet over on CarmenElectrode.com -I do a "New Rosies" column featuring women who weld.

She did one heck of a job on that helmet. I have actually been thinking about making a helmet for the wife and daughter to use. Was thinking about painting it pink. I figured if they had a helmet and one that is fun (painted all up) they might be more interested in learning to weld.

Thanks for all the complements everyone, I will pass them on and make sure she see's them.

She is quite the artistic and creative gal, far more so than me
