I know just how you feel.

When I first turned my 304 on and it lit up, I was real happy.
Then I burned a couple of rods and I was thrilled.

I wouldn't worry too much on taking it in for service if it works, however, I would advise you to open it up and retorqe the bolts on the output board. (right side vertical circuit board). This is the main and most expensive culprit to fail. Once every year or couple of years its best to retorque these bolts and you'll likely never have a problem with the machine.

The XMT 304 is a great machine, you have many years of great welding with that machine ahead of you. We used XMT 304's at the school I went to, and they were the toughest, best welding machine I have ever used. Good Luck to you!
